A drugstore originally stood in the Plaza's location on the corner of West Miner Street and Broadway. However after the building burned the City purchased the land. In its place, the City built a Plaza for downtown patrons. A historical marker faces Miner Street while trees and a trellis of vines covers the concrete tables and benches.
Checker and Chess boards have been imprinted into the concrete table tops for outdoor enjoyment. Restroom facilities are additionally available in conjunction with the Liberty Arts Center next door. Finally, many "Yrekans" note the Plaza as they pass by for its prominent clock tower.
