Small Cities Organized Risk Effort

Yreka is part of the Small Cities Organized Risk Effort (SCORE), an association of municipalities joined together in 1986 to protect member resources by stabilizing risk costs in a reliable, economical and beneficial manner while providing members with broad coverage and quality services in risk management and claims management.

First formed in July of 1986, SCORE, a Joint Powers Authority, was created as a cooperative agreement between smaller rural Northern California cities to cost-effectively share risk. By pooling risk member cities can take advantage of group rates and obtain risk management expertise within the city's budget. Over the years SCORE membership has expanded to include eighteen membership cities.

SCORE currently offers Liability, Property, Workers' Compensation, Crime, Cyber, Pollution and Employment Practices Liability Coverage, an Employee Assistance Program, as well as training and loss prevention services.

California Association of Joint Powers Authorities

SCORE has received an Accreditation with Excellence by the California Association of Joint Powers Authorities (CAJPA) numerous times since 2006. CAJPA has sponsored the nation's first risk management accreditation program. This program establishes a model of professional standards which serves as a guideline for all risk management pools regardless of size, scope of operation, or membership structure. SCORE is proud to have met the highest CAJPA standard and maintained the Accreditation with Excellence status - a title which is reserved for those CAJPAs who exceed mandatory requirements for accreditation.
